MISO RAMEN (and Hirata steamed buns)

I have been asking mum for ages to try Ramen.  One of my friends speaks about Ramen at school and I have been wanting to try it for a while.  We have had a Wagamama Your Way cook book for ages.  Mum kept putting it off because she thought it would be hard to make, but it was actually really easy, and now that we've had it we will definitely be making it again and again in our house.

Easy to get ingredients:

We thought it was going to be hard to get some of the ingredients as we'd never heard of them before.  Like shichimi.  But we phoned Scoop Whole Foods in Lerwick and they had the shichimi, the chilli oil, and the miso paste.  Scoop say that if we ever need anything just ask and they will put it up to the local shops in Whalsay for us to get from there which is really good.  I loved shopping in Scoop. We were also in Tesco yesterday. (Alison here -  I was very dippy (or a stressed mum trying to catch a ferry) and ended up forgetting the Tesco groceries that I'd paid for haha, so thank goodness for Michelle and James doing a late shop for us or we wouldn't have had our Ramen tonight that Willa has been speaking about for days!  Also thanks to Cally for getting my attention when Willa needed the toilet!! And thanks to the Tesco staff for putting all my stuff that I left away again so that I can re shop the next time we are in Lerwick and haven't lost it all.... the stress... anyway...just another day in Ali land)

How much did I enjoy making it:

Mum made this one.  (Alison here, I feel that this dish took a bit of time to think about this first time because I've never made it before and it was new ingredients to me, but now that I've made it, I've realised that it's super easy to make, and will be really confident making it again). The Hirata steamed buns did take a bit of time with the kneading, and leaving it to prove - so if I was in a hurry I would just have the Ramen without them.  Mine didn't look quite so pretty as the restaurant ones but they did taste good dipping in the broth, so if I had time I would try them again)

How was the taste:

Me, Mum and Dad all gave this 10 out of 10.  All loved the taste.  Nina is raking with June again and having her tea there!  (Alison here.  The book recipe is quite spicy - James had bought us a packet of Itsu brilliant broth classic ramen.  It was a really nice flavour, and I thought it was best for Willa.  However when I offered her both small bowls to try she said she liked the spicy one)  Initially when I tasted it, I thought the spicy one wasn't going to taste good, but once it was mixed with the chicken, noodles and veg it was really good.)

Will I make it again:

Definitely.  I think Joanne would really like this, so told mum to invite her for her tea the next time we have it.  She is very enthusiastic about my blog!
