Image
SUNDAY PAMPER SESSION!!! On Sunday Katie took Willa for a pamper night.  They had a lovely fruit platter, put on face masks and relaxed!!! Willa:  'I thought it was really funny because Lottie the dog took the face masks off the table and threw them on the floor.' 'The fruit platter was really tasty.  It had cantaloupe melon in it. We shared it with Mila, it was really funny because Mila thought she hated cantaloupe melon but then she ate it haha.  She actually liked it.'

LENTIL SOUP ON GAMMON

Image
LENTIL SOUP ON GAMMON It's a 10 from Nina!!!! Tonight we had a lovely pot of lentil soup for tea.  Nina had requested 'flat soup' like they make at school, which we realised meant that she wanted it blended :) the school cook also let me know that they add a sweet potato to their lentil soup which we don't usually do, so added that in tonight.   Anthony's recipe: Lentils, carrots, neep, onion, sweet potato, and gammon.  'I didno work wi ony measures just pat in enough lentils dat I tocht wid dae.'   Method:  'I put the gammon in a pot, put enough water to cover it, added in a chopped onion, got it boiling, added in the lentils and stirred for a start.  Peeled the carrots and neep, chopped into cubes and threw that in.  Let it simmer away for 2 hours, then added the sweet tattie cubes, and simmered for anidder half hour.  Took the meat oot, cut it up.  Put the soup in the blender to cream it up then served :)' Ratings Nina 10/1...

WILLA & KATIE'S BANANA BREAD

Image
Hi, Alison here. Solo write up tonight because Willa sleeping, but got her rating before she fell asleep.  Blog been a bit quiet over the last week, but we've had a diamond wedding anniversary, a surprise visit from Maria, a wedding, a bonfire, sports awards, and Katrena's birthday party as well as the usual Saturday Alice Project this past week, and a visit to the Gilbert Bain hospital for an eye appointment, so we are all a bit exhausted :) Willa and Katie have been baking however and it was very tasty!!  Willa's cousin Teresa has very kindly printed out lots of nutritious recipes for us - and we've been so flat out we've not got going with many of them yet.  One of them was this tasty Banana Bread.  We are looking forward to trying more of Teresa's recipes in the coming weeks! WILLA AND KATIE'S BANANA BREAD Recipe 140g brown rice flour. 30g coconut flour 30g (1 heaped tablespoon of coconut oil)  10g (1 heaped tablespoon ground flaxseed)  4 ripe mashed ba...

SWEET CHILLI SALMON

Image
SWEET CHILLI SALMON Hi, Alison here.  Tonight we had salmon for tea.  I don't really like salmon, and Willa didn't used to either but we both know that it is good for Omega-3 so we are trying to soldier on and encourage ourselves to like it.  My sister Louise recommended trying it in sweet chilli sauce, so I found this recipe online and went for it tonight. We had some mixed vegetables and some garlic bread with it.   Willa gave it a 6/10 She's not fussed whether we eat it again or not :) I give it a 7 I think which is pretty good given that I'm working hard here to like salmon :) The ingredients were very easy to get and it was a very quick meal to make which is fine on a night where we all have things on.  I'm mindful that we don't eat much oily fish, and that Omega-3 helps to keep us healthy so good to find a recipe that we are not against eating again :) Louise cooks hers in foil - but since this recipe said to leave it uncovered I just went with ...
